We look forward all year long to host our runners and as soon as it's over we can't wait for when they return again. And nothing warms our hearts more than seeing previous runners roll into the pre-race brief to just say hi or to show support to the new Old Dominion runners. And this year did not disappoint, so many of you stopped by!

The start of the 2024 race was comfortable, with temperatures in the 50s at the beginning, but dropping to the low 40s at the Boyer Aid station. These cool temperatures provided the runners with a strong start. Although the day did heat up, it never reached the scorching and humid conditions typical of the first weekend in June.

Throughout the day, clusters of runners stuck together, arriving at aid stations in tight packs. Even the front of the pack stayed within minutes of each other for most of the day. We also saw some fast times on the last 7 miles of the course. Many of them completed it just over an hour like Katy Link, Whitney Richman, John Kelly, and Butch Slabach.

John Kelly secured the victory, crossing the finish line in a time of 15:44:49. This marked the third fastest time overall and the second fastest on this particular course. Frank Bozanich's 1980 finish occurred on our course in Leesburg, VA. Keith Straw continues to push our record for oldest finisher, as he finishes for his 5th time at the age of 69. 2 of those are under 24 hours. This year, Steve Combs ties Keith's record of oldest runner to get a buckle at 64. Steve's time is just a little faster at 23:15:26, while Keith's was at 23:52:30 in 2019.

The women had a strong showing with 10 (52%) of them receiving a buckle. With such favorable weather, we witnessed the finisher rate soar to 79%, with 82 runners completing the course in under 28 hours, the highest number of finishers to date.

After an amazing weekend, we feel lucky that we got to add a whole new group of runners to our family this year. We hope to see you all on the course again or swinging by to just say Hi.
